As if Comic-Con wasn't already awesome enough, Metallica have now booked plans to appear at the San Diego-based comic book convention this summer. Comic-Con isn't just about comics, as it has become a primary destination for producers, directors and actors to get the word out early about the upcoming film projects they're working on, and given that kind of stage, Metallica are wise to involve the promotion of their 'Metallica Through the Never' 3D film using the Comic-Con platform.

Metallica have already taken the film to Cannes earlier this year in hopes of luring additional backers and giving fans a taste of what's to come. The film itself focuses on a young roadie played by Dane Dehaan who is sent on a harrowing task that he must complete by the time Metallica's performance comes to an end. In the film, the band performs while Dehaan simultaneously is attempting to complete his risky mission.

The band goes into more detail about their upcoming Comic-Con appearance in a new posting at their website. It reads as follows:

You've heard us use the word "first" a few times this year and we're back with a truly unusual, unbelievably exciting first for us – Comic-Con, San Diego here we come! The now iconic convention hosts well over 100,000 visitors from all over the world to talk film, TV, art, collectables, and of course, comics. We are totally psyched to be a part of it on Friday, July 19 to discuss the upcoming 3D event, Metallica Through The Never.
As we hope you've heard, our 3D movie shot last year in Vancouver will be released in IMAX theatres on September 27, spreading to additional theatres on October 4. The four of us will be in Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center from 6:30-7:00 PM on that Friday, along with many of the super talented team that is helping us create an unprecedented film experience. Joining us to talk all things Through The Never will be the star of the film, Dane DeHaan, Director/Writer Nimrod Antal and Producer Charlotte Huggins as we proudly present the world premiere of the theatrical trailer along with an exclusive preview of footage from the movie followed by a discussion on the making of the film.
If you're going to Comic-Con this year, we hope that you'll join us on July 19 in Hall H for another Metallica first!
