Metallica already have a lot on their plate, but they aren’t too busy to help out a worthy cause. They will be performing at the 10th annual MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Concert on May 12 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles where their pal Ozzy Osbourne is being saluted.

It was previously announced that Ozzy Osbourne will be performing with his solo band along with guitarist Slash. Ozzy will also receive the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his commitment to helping individuals who have struggled with addiction.

In a statement on their appearance, Metallica said, “We are so proud to be a part of the tenth annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert as our dear friend Ozzy Osbourne is presented with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award on Monday, May 12 in Los Angeles. It’s no secret that Ozzy has been a major presence throughout our entire lives and we are so humbled and honored to be with Ozzy for this special evening.”

They added, “The MusiCares MAP Fund allows access to addiction recovery treatment and sober living resources for members of the music community as well as offering support groups for working and touring members. James was the recipient of this award in 2006 and we are proud to continue to support the amazing work that the MAP Fund does. Also joining us in honoring Ozzy that night will be Keb’ Mo’ and a special performance by Ozzy and his touring band including Slash on guitar. Joe Walsh will be there to present Ozzy with his award and Jeff Greenberg, owner/CEO of the Village studios, will be receiving the From The Heart Award from Craig Ferguson.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit the MusiCares MAP Fund, which provides members of the music community access to addiction recovery treatment regardless of their financial situation. Tickets for the benefit cost anywhere from $50 to $1250 each.

General admission balcony seats are available for $50 at Perhaps Metallica will play the new song ‘The Lords of Summer‘ at the event, which they debuted over the weekend during their ‘By Request’ tour show in Bogota, Colombia. Or maybe they’ll play an Ozzy or Black Sabbath classic?
