Metallica to Release ‘Live at Webster Hall’ on Triple Vinyl + CD

Last September, just 1,500 fans had the chance to see Metallica play Webster Hall in New York City, but now everyone will get the opportunity to own the night’s set. The thrash legends are releasing a two-disc/triple LP edition of the concert and it comes out May 5.

The limited edition package is newly mastered for vinyl and comes on three 140 gram LPs mixed by Greg Fidelman, who produced Hardwired… to Self-Destruct. Only one copy of the $39.98 LP will be sold per customer and will come with a digital download of the performance. The set is also available on CD for $16.44 and can be purchased on the Metallica website and in pop-up stores in select cities throughout the band’s North American WorldWired 2017 Tour.

In addition to tracks from Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, the band also dug out classics like “Harvester of Sorrow,” “Fade to Black” and a cover of the Budgie song “Breadfan” for the Webster Hall show. One of the highlights of the night, which happened to come on the 30th anniversary of the tragic passing of Metallica bassist Cliff Burton, was an inspired performance of “Orion,” which singer James Hetfield punctuated by saying, “30 years. We miss you, Cliff.”

The gig was exclusively for Metallica’s “Fifth Member” fan club, and tickets were just $25 with all proceeds going to the charity City Harvest. The show previewed songs from the then-forthcoming Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, which came out three weeks later.
