Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, Kreator’s Mille Petrozza + More Join Volbeat Onstage at Hometown Gig

Volbeat gave their hometown fans surprise after surprise on Aug. 26 in Copenhagen, Denmark. A ton of special guests shared the stage with Volbeat, including Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, Kreator’s Mille Petrozza and Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway.

Volbeat just finished supporting Metallica on their massive ‘WorldWired’ tour in North America. Volbeat are now touring across Europe, but Lars Ulrich still made a surprise appearance in his country of birth. Ulrich performed with Volbeat during the band’s first encore, getting behind the drum kit for “Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood” and a cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.”

Earlier in the show, Kreator’s Mike Petrozza came out to sing his part on “7 Shots,” which he lent guest vocals to on Volbeat’s 2010 album, Beyond Hell/Above Heaven. Napalm Death vocalist Barney Greenway also put his gutturals to tape on that album, screaming on the track “Evelyn.” Greenway took the stage a while after Petrozza in an attempt to blow the roof off the Telia Parken stadium.

During Volbeat’s second encore, the band played “Black Rose” with special guest Danko Jones, who sang on the Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie cut. Volbeat also brought out former professional boxer Mikkel Kessler for “A Warrior’s Call,” which was originally dedicated to the fighter on Beyond Hell/Above Heaven.
