Megadeth, Halestorm, Amon Amarth + DragonForce Members Record Motorhead Cover

Since Lemmy Kilmister‘s death in late December, countless rock and metal acts have performed Motorhead covers onstage, sometimes with members of multiple bands jamming together, and others have even hit the studio to pay homage to the beloved icon. The video above features members of a slew of bands like Megadeth, Halestorm, Amon Amarth, DragonForce and more all recording separate versions, which were then spliced together in an ultimate tribute.

The recordings were organized by Benjamin Waxx and took place at Hellfest in France in June earlier this year. As seen, musicians mostly play acoustic guitars, recording the timeless “Ace of Spades” from the comfort of a black leather couch. Members of Atreyu, Shinedown, Nashville Pussy, Discharge, Sick of it All, Metal Blade founder and CEO Brian Slagel and still more all bear their soul, doing their best gravely-voiced Lemmy impersonation, strumming aggressively on acoustic guitars and plugging in to rip through the bluesy solo.

The outpouring from fans and musicians alike is unyielding, demonstrating Lemmy was every bit the legend he was made out to be. Since his passing, bars have renamed his favorite drink, Jack Daniels and Coca-Cola, to “The Lemmy.” Lem’s favorite haunt, the Rainbow Bar and Grill, has begun plans to erect a bronze statue in his honor and are even planning on renaming the spot “Lemmy’s Lounge.”

Just four days after his 70th birthday and two days after being diagnosed with terminal neck and brain cancer, the Motorhead legend died. The official cause of death was listed as prostate cancer as well as cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure.
