Megadeth Bassist Doesn’t Consider Band “Organic”

Two years after the wildly successful ‘United Abominations’ album and tour, Megadeth are back in the studio, once again looking for metal gold. “The album itself has taken the shape of some older Megadeth albums,” says the band’s bassist James Lomenzo. “I think the fans will appreciate it and it’s really organic in some ways. That’s an odd way to put it because Megadeth isn’t an organic band.”

While Megadeth continues to push forward, keeping pace with modern times and sounds, Lomenzo admits some fans may be surprised at the new album. “I think it might irk some of the more hardcore fans. They want the old, angry Mustaine. As elder statesman, Dave and I… we like variety. There’s gonna be a lot here for everyone I think.”

Since the new album is still several months from release, most Megadeth fans are tiding over their appetite for new tunes with any information regarding Gigantour. “It’s going to happen, it’s a force of nature! We have to see what bands are available, what tours are going through, when it makes sense to go where. It usually comes together fast. We can get it together in two or three months.”

Whenever and wherever Gigantour kicks off, don’t expect to see Lomenzo nervous. “Getting on stage is completely natural for me. I sort of equate it to the guy that’s been working his way up from the mail room and is finally running the place. There’s nothing that will throw him. There’s nothing unusual. Shit breaks, people lose their voices, crowds rush the stage, the PA guys breaks stuff, the monitor guy kills you… it’s all happened a million times and it will keep happening. Like a bad day at work. You live to conquer another day.”
