The rock 'n' roll rite of passage of destroying your hotel room is more a thing of the past, but Mayhem don't seem to think so. Living up to their band name, the Norwegian black metal band vandalized more than just their Hotel Central room on Sunday night after playing a gig in Tilburg, Holland.

Various metal news sources have covered the story, and all say the same regarding the condition in which a hotel employee found the perimeter by the band's room windows and the room itself. "Plants were thrown in the street, mirrors, a sink and curtains in the bathroom were torn apart and demolished. The beds and television were destroyed and walls were covered in spots," reported Skull 'n Bones.

The band was arrested and the damage is an estimated 5,000 euros, which is about $7,480 U.S. dollars. They are currently being held in a local jail and will not be released until the costs of damage are completely reimbursed.
