Mastodon Rock ‘Show Yourself’ on ‘Conan,’ Book Chicago Benefit Show

The best things are worth the wait, so it was with great anticipation that Mastodon hit the stage on Conan Monday night (July 10). The band was initially expected to perform on the show back in late May, but the performance was pushed to a later date and eventually aired last night.

An enthusiastic Conan O’Brien introduced the band before they delivered one of the heavier performances the late night show might see. Bathed in red and yellow lighting, the band played their current single “Show Yourself” with both Troy Sanders and Brann Dailor handling vocals on the song. Brent Hinds also got a solid showcase as the camera closed in on his mid-song guitar solo. Watch the performance in the video above.

“Show Yourself” is featured on the band’s latest album Emperor of Sand album and fans will have a chance to catch the band performing the song and more on their upcoming tour dates.

Included in their upcoming run is one special event, with the band heading up the Hope for the Day Benefit in Chicago on Sept. 9. This is the 35th year the benefit has taken place in the Windy City, with Mastodon set to perform at the Metro for the Hope for the Day organization. Hope for the Day promotes suicide prevention and provides outreach and mental health education through self expression platforms. In addition to the performance, fans on hand will get a chance to try the Crack the Skye beer a day before its public release and Dark Matter Coffee will be re-releasing their Crack the Skye java in celebration of the performance. Tickets for the show are on sale now, with Meet and Greet / VIP packages available as well.
