Jokey, nonsensical song titles were once the domain of metalcore bands, who would give their songs long silly titles that had absolutely nothing to do with the lyrics. Well, metal's favorite art rockers Mastodon are doing something similar (and arguably, cooler) on their new album, which Pitchfork has revealed will be titled 'The Hunter.'

After revealing the existence of a new song called 'Blasteroids,' Mastodon also shared a few more new titles: 'Stargasm,' 'The Octopus Has No Friends' and 'Curl of the Burl.'

Aw, that poor, lonely friendless octopus. We love it when metal bands engage in a little word play.

Mastodon's 'The Hunter' will be the follow up to 2009's 'Crack the Skye.'
