It's been a momentous year for psychedelic metal band Mastodon. After releasing their monumental concept record 'Crack the Skye,' which ranked near the top of many critics' year end top 10 lists, the band toured nearly nonstop, first with Kylesa and Intronaut, in the summer at European festivals and finally with Dethklok, Converge and High on Fire on one of the most touted club package tours of the year. On top of that, the band was invited to score the upcoming film 'Jonah Hex,' an adaptation of the Western comic book directed by Jimmy Hayward.

During a brief break for the holidays, drummer and lyricist Brann Dailor called in to the ''Creep Show' to talk about touring with cartoon characters, protecting their pals Converge from bottle throwers and the bonus version of 'Crack the Skye,' that features an instrumental version of the album, which fans can sing along with on YouTube.

Dailor also talked about how Mastodon recorded songs for 'Jonah Hex,' the possible soundtrack that might accompany the film, Dailor's dream of having director Alejandro Jodorowsky ('El Topo,' 'The Holy Mountain') -- whose son is a Mastodon fan -- direct a full 'Crack the Skye' film, the recent Chicago show that was recorded for future DVD release and the disappointment at not being nominated for a Grammy in 2009.

Dailor was joined for the podcast by Revolver senior writer Jon Wiederhorn, Noisecreep head scribe Amy Sciarretto, Noisecreep news man and freelance writer Chris Harris and New York concert promoter Rich Hall.

During the ''Creep Show' news segment, the panel discussed the bands that did get nominated for metal Grammys -- Judas Priest, Ministry, Slayer, Megadeth and Lamb of God -- the announcement of a new Limp Bizkit album, what happened to Danish Volbeat singer Michael Poulsen, who collapsed onstage in Holland and reports that Burnt by the Sun vocalist Mike Olender is working with Blood Has Been Shed. In addition, we discussed the untimely death of Sweet Cobra guitarist Mat Arluck, who died of cancer at 39 and metal legend Ronnie James Dio's announcement that he's battling stomach cancer and fighting to win.

Finally, the ''Creep Show' crew talked about the few albums that are hitting this week, including the slick, commercial 30 Seconds to Mars effort 'This is War,' the acoustic Nonpoint EP 'Cut the Chord' and the flashy teen-thrash band Age of Evil's EP 'Get Dead.'
