The boys of Mastodon may have lost the "coveted" Best Metal Performance Grammy to Tenacious D at last night's awards show (Feb. 8), but Mastodon undoubtedly won the game of life while walking the red carpet. Taking the piss and having a fun time doing so, guitarist Brent Hinds dressed up as L.A. Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, while drummer Brann Dailor wore a smashing suit covered in party balloons. Bravo, gentlemen.

In the hilariously awkward red carpet video above, Dailor told the Grammy.com hosts that he was adorned in his "second birthday suit," as he also rocked a green pirate shirt, green shoes and striped socks.

As for Brent Hinds, he just came from his second job as Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez's stunt double. Telling the two apart is damn near impossible, but if you look closely, Hinds' uniform rocks a Party Smasher Inc. patch. Party Smasher Inc. is a start-up from Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, which "supports and produces independent creation, with an obsession for DIY and revulsion for expectedness. It brings inspiration, resource and a home for alternative creatives." Way to show some love, Brent! Also, if you look closely at the video above, Weinman himself can be seen in the background while Hinds and Dailor are being interviewed.

Major League Baseball itself recognized Hinds' contribution to the Grammys red carpet, saluting the Mastodon shredder in this Facebook post:
