Marilyn Manson will be back in 2017 with the previously teased Say10 album and he’s whetting the appetite of fans as the album starts to take shape. Manson reveals to Rolling Stone that the recording of the album has a familiar feel to him and those who’ve heard the music.

“It’s not very much in any way like The Pale Emperor,” says Manson of the new music. “The people who have heard the new songs said it reminded them of their favorite parts of Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals — but with a new, different approach.”

He continued, “It’s pretty violent in its nature for some reason, and it’s not emotional in the same way. It’s got a chip on its shoulder. I enjoyed doing it. I can’t wait for people to hear it. I think they’re going to be quite surprised.”

Manson has been working on the music with composer Tyler Bates, who also has been scoring music for the TV series Salem. He joined Bates in Louisiana while filming a guest appearance on the series and says the environment definitely brought back some memories of when he was in New Orleans working on Antichrist Superstar.

“I found the supernatural element of the show to be very authentic when I lived in New Orleans: the hoodoo, voodoo, all the Santeria, it was all very much a part of my surroundings when I was making the music I made down there,” said Manson. “Maybe that kickstarted my mojo into making a new album.”

The singer previously teased that the Say10 album would arrive on Valentine’s Day 2017.
