Phil Collen has been a busy guy as of late. Besides holding down guitar duties on Def Leppard's world tour, he's also found time to front Manraze, a killer power trio that also features drummer Paul Cook (Sex Pistols) and bassist Simon Laffy (Girl). The group recently released 'Punkfunkrootsrock,' their second album and the 12-song disc features Manraze's take on 'Fire,' the 1967 classic rock staple from The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

"We've been playing 'Fire' since our first Manraze gig in 2005," Collen told Noisecreep. "When we discovered the freedom of being in a three-piece band Jimi Hendrix was one of our blueprints. Aside from being an homage to Hendrix it just seemed so natural for us to play that song. We decided to record it for the 'Punkfunkrootsrock' album as one of our own. All Hendrix songs have to be OK'd by his estate so we were thrilled when we got the green light since not everyone gets it."
