Machine Head Plot Return to the Road After Singer’s Surgery + More News

After being forced to miss a total of nine dates on their tour due to frontman Robb Flynn's emergency hernia surgery, Machine Head will be returning to the Dethklok, All That Remains, and The Black Dahlia Murder tour for the Nov. 24 date in Portland, Oregon as expected. What a warrior that Robb Flynn is.

Flynn says the experience "totally sucked balls," but he is "feeling stronger now, especially after "a heavy listening schedule of Accept's "Balls to the Wall," AC/DC's "Big Balls," hell, I even found time to record a cover of Soulfly's "Eye for An Eye," with the lyrics changed to "Guts in the Nuts." Memory lane time, people! Members of The Sword and Darkest Hour are playing with the bands that launched their careers - Recover, At All Cost, Pack of Wolves and Employer, Employee- and reuniting for one night only this December in Austin, Texas at Red 7. The show is called "Party at the End of the World' and it takes place on Dec. 21. Krum Bums and Spiritual Wives will also perform.

All the bands had cult followings when they were active, and were influential for young Austin artists. "These bands pushed the limits of Austin's music scene during their time, and sadly, weren't appreciated until after they had disbanded," says Red 7 Manager Joaquin Ramirez, who put together the lineup.

Some history: Members of Recover went on to form Young Love, who released two successful albums on Island/Def Jam Records, and their drummer, Jimmy Vela, now plays with The Sword. Mike Carrigan of At All Cost is now touring the world with metal overlords Darkest Hour, and Trey Ramirez of At All Cost and Pack of Wolves has teamed up with Jason Reece (...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead) to form Spiritual Wives.
