We have sad news to report today as Lord Mantis and Indian drummer Bill Bumgardner has died at the age of 35. His most recent work came with Lord Mantis on the NTW EP which was released earlier this year as well as Indian's final record, From All Purity (2014).

Bumgardner's passing has been confirmed by Brooklyn Vegan, but the cause of death remains unknown at this time. The stickman was the sole remaining original member of Lord Mantis, who are based out of Chicago and have released three albums as well as two EPs since forming in 2005. The band's most tenured member is now guitarist Andrew Markuszewski, who has been with the group since 2008, performing on each release save for the debut EP.

Also in Lord Mantis is Bumgardner's Indian bandmate, Dylan O'Toole, who now handles vocals. Indian, who were also from the Windy City, disbanded last year after releasing five albums and one EP.

Check out Bumgardner's work with both Lord Mantis and Indian below. Loudwire would like to extend condolences to Bumgardner's family, bandmates and friends.
