Living CorpseItalian metallers Living Corpse, just signed to Coroner Records and is releasing their new album, 'Metaphysical Collapse,' on Feb. 8. Not only did Dennis Siebeijn, designer for Damnengine, take the photograph of the embracing couple that is the centerpiece for the album's cover, he also is one half of that couple!

"The hardest part of the image was taking the photo," Dennis told Noisecreep, "since it's me holding my wife ... I took the photo myself, and even with a remote control that can be a tricky thing to do. Besides that, posing for your own images can make you feel like an idiot."

The couple, with their faces and private areas expertly hidden, are pierced with what look like tree branches. "The artwork wasn't specifically made for the album," Siebeijn explained further. "The band bought the image from me. The idea behind the image is being held by a lost loved one. It's comforting and painful at the same time and it can hold someone back in life."

Siebeijn generously gave us a glimpse into his methods for making the cover art. "I used different techniques on this image. I made the textures by painting with acrylics on cardboard and by burning photographs. I scanned these in and brought it all together in Photoshop, along with the photos of the dead tree -- which were taken in Poland."
