Linkin Park are easily one of the most philanthropic and socially minded bands going and the latest use of their public platform finds the band urging their fans to follow in their footsteps. In fact, those footsteps could find you stopping in Japan for the 2013 Summer Sonic festival.

The group has teamed with the Urgency Network, which connects non-profit organizations, musicians, celebrities and fans in an online campaign to create a positive impact on a global scale. As they say on the website, no good deed goes unrewarded. But what's not stated is that a whole lot of good deeds could land you at Summer Sonic, where you'll also get a chance to meet Linkin Park in person.

Through a process of donations and social actions, you get one step closer to the Grand Prize, as each action completed grants you another entry in the drawing for the trip. The contest runs through the end of the month, and you can visit the Linkin Park Urgency Network page to begin working your way through some of the various social actions.

It should be noted that on top of the Linkin Park experience offered, the 2013 Summer Sonic festival will also include sets from Metallica, Fall Out Boy, M.I.A., Alt-J and more. A winner will be chosen on Aug. 1, with the festival running Aug. 10 and 11. The winning entrant will be able to bring a guest along. Full details on the Urgency Network campaign can be found here.

Linkin Park have been in the studio working on new music and Summer Sonic is one of the few dates they will play this year.
