Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe Comments on ‘As the Palaces Burn’ Documentary

Lamb of God fans are now getting a chance to check out the band’s ‘As the Palaces Burn’ documentary, shot by director Don Argott, but admittedly the final product is not what the band had initially intended.

Speaking before the Philadelphia premiere of the film at the Trocadero, frontman Randy Blythe took the microphone for a few comments. He explained, “This is not the movie we set out to make. We set out to make a movie about you guys, but life happens.”

The life he’s referring to is the time spent in a Czech prison as he was tried for manslaughter in the death of an audience member at a previous show in the city. The trial was well documented and eventually Blythe was cleared of blame in the case. The initial film that Lamb of God had intended to shoot was a documentary showing the band’s far-reaching and global fan base.

Blythe continued, “I want you all just to keep in mind that we’re here and it’s cool and everyone’s happy but it’s not a movie we’re particularly happy about, you know. If we could undo things that happened, we would. But what it is is it’s an honest expression of our truth. And I think that’s the most important thing, you know.” To see Blythe’s comments, check the video above.

It’s important to note that ‘As the Palaces Burn’ is not a concert film, but rather begins as a showcase of the fandom around the world before the stop in Prague where the events of Blythe’s arrest, the band’s reaction and the journey of the case unfold.
