Korn Take on NSA Spying, Pop Culture Obsession + More With ‘Spike in My Veins’ Video

Korn have never shied away from using the musical platform to make a statement. In their new video for ‘Spike in My Veins,’ the band takes their concerns over what currently passes for news overtaking deeper issues like the government invading our privacy and addresses it head on.

The David Dinetz-directed video finds the band performing in front of a bank of television sets as recent events like Toronto mayor Rob Ford’s arrest, Miley Cyrus’ MTV Video Music Awards performance, Richard Sherman’s post NFC championship game rant and coverage of Justin Bieber among others featured on the screens. But within each clip, there appears to be a glitch, as shots of President Obama on celebrity talk shows are intermingled with his political comments on NSA spying.

The clip, seen above, debuted at Rolling Stone, and frontman Jonathan Davis told the magazine’s website of the video, “We are all so caught up in watching crazy media on the Internet and TV that we are manipulated into ignoring that our privacy has all but disappeared.”

‘Spike in My Veins’ appears on the band’s ‘The Paradigm Shift’ album, which has already yielded the hit songs and equally intriguing videos for ‘Never Never’ and ‘Love & Meth.’

Korn will spend the spring embracing the “world” part of their world tour. They’ll finish up February and carry over into March taking part in the Soundwave Festival in Australia. From there, it’s off to Singapore and Mexico in March, followed by a pair of U.S. rock festivals in April and an extensive European trek in May. To see their full itinerary, click here.
