As we’re seeing in the upcoming concert documentary Day of the Gusano, it took a while before Slipknot played in Mexico for the first time. But now that they’ve done so, it made so much of an impression that they’ve brought their Knotfest music festival to the country in successive years and will continue to do so. According to a new social media posting, Knotfest Mexico will return in October this year.

In the tweet by the band, the group revealed artwork for the event and announced that the show will take place Oct. 28 at the Foro Pegaso in Toluca, Mexico. See the post below.

The initial Knotfest Mexico took place in 2015, with the band supported by Megadeth, Lamb of God, HIM, A Day to Remember, Cradle of Filth, Ill Nino and more. In 2016, Knotfest Mexico became a two-day affair with Avenged Sevenfold, Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Disturbed, Deftones, The Offspring, Chevelle, Ministry, Meshuggah, Killswitch Engage, Sevendust, Opeth Arch Enemy and more taking part.

The lineup for this year’s bill has not been announced, and given that Slipknot are currently inactive while Corey Taylor‘s other band Stone Sour are back promoting new music does leave some question about which act will head up the event.

It’s also been teased that the Ozzfest Meets Knotfest event that fared so well last fall will return to San Bernardino, Calif. this fall as well. An official announcement on the music weekend is expected on July 10. Slipknot have also staged the Knotfest in Japan in 2014 and 2016, but no details on a 2017 event have been revealed.
