Kittie have all the makings of a bewitching 'Behind the Music.' The girls roared to fame in their teens, on the back of their 2000-released, Gold-selling debut, 'Spit.' After enduring revolving door membership outside of sisters and founding members Morgan and Mercedes Lander, as well as the notoriously fickle American metal audiences, Kittie scratched and clawed their way through a significant battle with their initial label, the now-defunct Artemis Records. They subsequently bounced around the music business, all the while releasing music so metallic it could put hair on their chests! The Canadian band has finally found a new, fitting home at E1 and they couldn't be happier.

"This is an exceptionally exciting time for the band," vocalist/guitarist Morgan Lander told Noisecreep. "Signing with E1 is a perfect match and has empowered us in unimaginable ways. We have written and perfected our latest musical offering over the last few months are ready to strike while the iron is hot! This past year in particular has been a really difficult one personally so it feels amazing to be able to get back to what matters most to us."

Sadly, Dave Lander, the girls' father and manager, passed away last August of a heart attack, but his daughters have found the strength to move forward with their music. Somewhere, Dave Lander is smiling down on his girls.

'In the Black' will be released on September 15 and is the first of a three-album deal. "It's a powerhouse, and we can't wait for everyone to hear it," Lander also said. Initial song titles are darkly feral and include "Cut Throat," "Sorrow I Know" and "My Plague." Lander also tossed around adjectives like "heavy, fast, brash and nasty yet at times introspective, feminine and emotional" when describing 'In the Black.'

Kittie are planning to tour this fall.
