Joey Jordison Says Slipknot Return Would Be ‘F—ing Awesome,’ Reveals He Was Let Go Via Email

Slipknot’s Joey Jordison has finally spoken out about how he left the band. Along with stating he would love to meet face-to-face with Slipknot to discuss a potential return, Jordison told Metal Hammer he was dismissed from the group via email.

At this year’s Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award, Jordison shocked the metal community by revealing he suffers from a rare neurological disorder called transverse myelitis. The disorder affects an individual’s spinal cord and drastically hindered Jordison’s playing. Jordison literally had to be carried to his drum throne for his final shows with Slipknot and he departed from the band soon after.

Jordison says he still isn’t happy over the way he was dismissed from Slipknot — via email. However, Joey would like to meet with the guys, who he still considers his “brothers.” “Honestly, I’m not trying to be dramatic, but if [a return] was brought up, what I’d want to do would be to get together,” Jordison tells Metal Hammer. “I’d want to see them, just hug it out and feel that energy that we had when we were f—ing young and hungry and all that s—t. They’re my brothers. We’d hug and talk and do s—t like we used to do. We used to sit up all night along planning this s—t and what we wanted to do. So that’s how I’d wanna do it. It’d have to be in person. If it happened, that would be f—ing awesome, but only time will tell.”

Jordison goes on to praise Slipknot’s newest album, .5: The Gray Chapter in the Metal Hammer interview, which will be available in full within the mag’s June 21 issue.
