If you love rock and roll, you'll want to get yourself to the Sunset Strip Music Festival this August. That's because iconic rocker Joan Jett has been named the 2013 SSMF honoree. As with past honorees, Jett will receive an all-star salute with a tribute show that's part of the music weekend.

"I actually lived on the Strip, right across the street from the Whisky," says Jett. "The Sunset Strip is a piece of rock and roll history. I never thought all of those insane times would turn in to an award, but I'm very honored, and inspired to keep making music."

The Jett tribute will take place at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip Aug. 1 and will be an exclusive VIP event. During the ceremony, she'll be presented with the Elmer Valentine Award and Hollywood will proclaim Aug. 1 "Joan Jett Day" as well. Past Sunset Strip Music Festival honorees include Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Motley Crue and The Doors.

Though the full lineup has yet to be revealed, the Sunset Strip Music Festival will also feature a headlining performance by Linkin Park during the Aug. 3 street fair. For additional details and ticketing information, check the Sunset Strip Music Festival website.
