VH1's 'That Metal Show' hosts Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson aren't the only funnymen in metal. The New York/New Jersey duo have built up respectable fanbases thanks to their comedy routines. Their gigs as comedians have allowed them to fraternize with the very metal bands at whose altars they so fervently worship at. "Metal and comedy go together," Florentine tells Noisecreep. "Comedians want to be metal musicians and metal musicians want to be comedians." Florentine and Jamieson admit that when they meet bands like Slipknot backstage at shows, the members come up to them and profess how much they enjoy their jokes. Jamieson says, "They say, 'We love you guys and watch your stuff!' We're mutual fans of each other's work!"

The pair also reveals that a significant number of metal bands have great senses of humor. "Type O Negative has built a good career goofing on themselves," Florentine says. Jamieson concurs, "Or look at Anthrax. They've remained a legit metal band. They are in the Top Four of thrash but they also incorporated humor since day one."

Comedians aren't the only ones who heart metal. Jamieson reminds us that wrestler Chris Jericho, who fronts his own power metal band Fozzy, is a super passionate metalhead, and reveals that he and Jericho have text battles over essential topics like who's better: Judas Priest or Iron Maiden! "We won't talk for two months and I'll get a text that says, 'Maiden still rules,'" admits Jamieson. "We'll text for the next half hour, like a text war. That's how metalheads are." While these age-old metal arguments may never achieve true consensus, Florentine and Jamieson have the same answer when asked who is right when it comes to both their televised and off-camera "Who is better?" metal debates. "I am," both comedian said in unison!
