Following the recent release of James LaBrie's new studio album 'Impermanent Resonance,' his guitarist Marco Sfogli and drummer Peter Wildoer have released a group of "play-through" videos that features them tracking two songs from the album in the studio.

For the track 'Letting Go,' Sfogli is using an limited edition RGR465M model (seen above), which is based on the short-lived RG565 model of the early '90s. The slim and shred-friendly Wizard II neck sports a maple fingerboard for a crisper attack, and its lightweight basswood body is loaded with a hot 'n' heavy pair of Dimarzio Air Norton S and D Activator humbucking pickups. And to help give some added heft to his tone, the guitar is tuned a whole step down, with the low string tuned further down to C for dropped tuning.

Fueling Sfogli's monster tone is a 120-watt DV Mark Triple 6 amplifier, which is powered by two KT-88 power tubes for optimum clarity and tonal spread. The three-channel amp offers an incredible amount of control over the tone -- most of which is harnessed from its three separate EQ, gain, solo and master volume sections. And while a matching DV Mark 4x12 cabinet is featured in the video, Sfogli is actually recording direct through a digitally-modeled cabinet and mic setup, provided by a Torpedo Live unit from Two Notes Audio Engineering.

Sfogli continued to use his DV Mark Triple 6 and Torpedo Live rig while recording 'Agony,' but opted for an Ibanez RG827Z 7-string tuned to A in place of his RG465M model.
