Jackyl Frontman Tackles New York City — Exclusive Video

In this exclusive video clip, Jackyl vocalist and resident chainsaw soloist Jesse James Dupree runs around New York City for a full day of press and meetings, since he does consultant work in the TV business. Noisecreep even spent some time with Dupree, whose hair hangs all the way down his back, on his press day and we will post a Q&A with him next week.

Here we see Dupree chatting with street vendors and taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the Big Apple. When we chatted with him about the band's new album, 'When Moonshine and Dynamite Collide,' which hit shelves and digital platforms yesterday, he said that despite all of his other endeavors, nothing beats the two hours when he hops on stage. "I can't imagine not playing," Dupree told Noisecreep. "That is like saying you'll never get enough of riding motorcycles, but sell them. As long as I can fire that chainsaw up, why not?"

Through the years, Jackyl have always stayed the course. "We're a blues-based, gritty rock band, like AC/DC with a mouth full of Georgia dirt," Dupree said. For the new album, Jackyl just did what came naturally. "It just came out right," he said. "There was no label pressure. We road tested songs and they proved themselves in front of a crowd. I know I will never make a record without applying that principle, to make sure we play it live first. There is something about doing that that weeds out everything else."

The open road was also a factor in the album's sound, with Dupree saying, "I did a lot of writing on my bike while out on tour and the ideas came while I was riding, and all of that adds up to 'When Moonshine and Dynamite Collide.' It sounds like Jackyl, and it's the closest thing to what you get with the vibe and energy and sound of the band live."
