In This Moment’s Chris Howorth Diagnosed With Acute Arthritis in Neck + Shoulders
In This Moment founding guitarist Chris Howorth has been dealing with severe neck issues for a number of weeks. After being forced to cancel a run of European shows, Howorth has been diagnosed with acute arthritis in his neck and shoulders. However, he will be back onstage for the band’s upcoming North American shows.
Back in April, Howorth shared he had injured his neck and was unable to move it more than an inch or two in any direction. In This Moment chose to cancel their European tour dates and support Howorth while he sought treatment instead of performing without him.
Howorth gave fans an update on his condition in an Instagram post on June 11:
THANK YOU so much to all my friends and fans for all the supportive messages and concern over my injury. To give you a quick explanation of what happened I woke up 3 weeks ago in severe pain and unable to move my head in any direction, it felt like my neck was fused. I must have unknowingly injured it working the day before in our band storage unit. I immediately sought medical attention and now after 4 weeks of therapy and meds I am getting some mobility back. Unfortunately I have been diagnosed with acute arthritis in my neck and shoulders…It’s something I’m going to have to live with from now on but I’m determined to continue writing and performing with my band. I am gutted that this affected our European tour but I am truly grateful for your support and understanding. We hope to make it up to you as soon as we can. I’m looking forward to seeing friends and fans this summer in the States. Chris
In This Moment will head out on their headlining Hell Pop North American tour featuring Hellyeah and more beginning June 17 in Iowa. The band will then act as support for Rob Zombie and Korn’s Return of the Dreads North American tour starting in July.
