This one is for the ladies! For decades, the men of metal have objectified women in music videos, photo shoots and stage shows. Now, not every man of metal is a misogynist - quite the contrary. But still, sex sells and scantily clad women have just become synonymous with the genre.

Today, the women of metal have their revenge! Behold, here's a countdown of some of the hottest men of metal and hard rock.

When you talk of male beauty, few specimens compare to Jon Bon Jovi. He was beautiful when Bon Jovi was just breaking in the '80s and he's still gorgeous now, all these years later. There's a reason Jon was easily able to transition from front man, to solo star to actor to philanthropist and back again: pretty people seem to have a confidence all their own. He hates when people discuss his good looks instead of discussing his music. That's probably how all those Hollywood starlets feel about magazine profiles that would rather discuss hairstyles instead of acting techniques.

James Hetfield (Metallica)

Metallica frontman James Hetfield makes our list because he looks better today than he did two decades ago. A ton of money and better living probably doesn't hurt, but we like to think Hetfield's metal star helped him rise along the hotness chart. As a guitarist and songwriter, Hetfield reigns supreme at the top of our list for creative talent. After all, the guy is one of the founding fathers of Metallica. Back in the 'Black' album days, Hetfield rocked long hair. Then came the 'Some Kind of Monster' rockumentary drama days, and Hetfield became short haired and pensive. The short hair stuck and now we can't imagine James any other way, especially when he's clad in a black T-shirt, Flying V slung low across his front.

Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue)

He was gorgeous back in the day, drug addiction aside. Dyed black hair and a bad boy attitude made the Mötley Crüe bassist the thing of fantasy for many women. Like the rest of the guys in Mötley, Nikki Sixx didn't have a hard time finding women to keep him company. While the band's autobiography The Dirt details some of Nikki's clashes with fidelity, he does seem to possess the qualities of a hopeless romantic and incredibly loving father. Things that just endear us women even more.

Nothing is hotter than a man with an awesome voice. Add cool hair to the mix and you've got a keeper. Lajon Witherspoon is best known for fronting southern metal band Sevendust. His stage presence, moves and seemingly boundless energy makes Sevendust shows a spectacle of metal. Even better, Witherspoon is an affable southern gentleman, treating each fan with respect. Chicks totally dig that!

Synyster Gates (Avenged Sevenfold)

He's one of the younger men on this list and he earns his spot honestly: Synyster Gates is one smoking guitar player. Scratch that: shredder. Avenged Sevenfold has some of the slickest, fastest, most complicated riffs on the scene and we get to enjoy it all while staring right into Syn's black lined eyes. The other sex appeal? A great smile and some seriously expensive tattoo work.

Duff McKagan (Velvet Revolver, ex-Guns N' Roses)

Duff McKagan looks better today than he did two decades ago. Maybe its because he's cleaned up his act and knocked off the drugs? Now, McKagan is a family man to model wife Susan Holmes and father to the couple's two girls. He keeps his body fit thanks to kickboxing and he keeps mind nimble by blogging and running his own financial management firm geared toward the music industry. Remember guys: ladies might love your looks, but a big brain is the biggest turn on of them all.

Jared Leto (30 Seconds to Mars)

Jared Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars and movie fame is a bona fide sex symbol, so he had to make our list. When we were teens, Leto made our hearts swoon as he played Jordan Catalano in the ABC/MTV show 'My So-Called Life.' He moved on to roles on the big screen and his celebrity soared. All the while building his acting career, Leto was building 30 Seconds to Mars into a powerhouse brand. Women love determination and success and that's why Leto makes the grade.

Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)

Bruce Dickinson makes our list for a myriad of reasons, including his good, rugged looks, fit body and status as both frontman for Iron Maiden and being a certified pilot. Dickinson keeps his body right with regular fencing bouts and all that activity must keep him young, because it sure doesn't look like the singer has aged a bit. Dickinson loves the sport of fencing so much he takes his gear with him on tour! And, like most driven men, he channeled his passion into money. Dickinson created Duellist Fencing way back in 1988. The company sells fencing clothes and gear. How metal is that?
