Hellyeah’s Chad Gray Shares Meaning Behind ‘Sangre Por Sangre (Blood for Blood)’

Those who’ve listened to Hellyeah‘s ‘Blood for Blood’ album know that some of the lyrical content comes from a deeply personal place. In our recent exclusive chat with Hellyeah, frontman Chad Gray shows some of that emotion as he gave us the meaning behind the song ‘Sangre Por Sangre (Blood for Blood).’

“There’s such a low regard I think for human existence and human life,” says Gray. “I had a rider friend who was murdered and you know, I saw all my circle of friends, the family and so many people are affected by that. We’ve all experienced the loss of time, and ‘Blood for Blood’ is just that.”

He goes on to add that rarely do people fully take into account what the full impact of taking a life means and he questions the motivations of such actions. And while the song comes from a personal experience, he’s able to apply some of the feelings and emotions on a more global scale.

Check out Gray’s full account of where the song comes from in the video above. ‘Sangre Por Sangre (Blood for Blood)’ is featured on the ‘Blood for Blood’ album. The disc is currently available at iTunes and Amazon.
