On the eve of their annual GWAR-B-Q, which is coming up this weekend, GWAR are unveiling 'Bloodbath,' (listen below) the latest track from 'Battle Maximus.' Their 13th album is due to be released Sept. 17.

In addition to premiering the song, Noisey also spoke with GWAR's Oderus Urungus. He talked about the sound of the new album. "I’d have to say maybe the sound of the record is a bit more on the thrash metal side, rather than the darker, heavier s--t that we were doing on the last record," explained the front thing. "It’s gonna be up to the fans when they hear it. We’re getting a very good reaction on the first track that we let out, 'Madness at the Core of Time,' because of course, the album, we’re trying to figure out what the band is gonna sound like, we’re trying to tell the next chapter in the story of GWAR, which isn’t easy. At the same time, through all of that, we’re also paying homage to Flattus. It’s our deepest conceptual work yet."

The GWAR-B-Q is Saturday (Aug. 17) in Richmond, Va., and will feature performances from Municipal Waste, Corrosion of Conformity, Pig Destroyer and X-Cops in addition to GWAR.

Oderus said of the festivities, "It’s getting bigger every year, and we don’t seem to have a hard time getting really incredible bands to play. It's become a music festival. Also with producing our own beer and our own GWAR B-Q sauce, it’s proven that there’s no limit to the depths of prostitution that we will subject ourselves to."

After this weekend's show, GWAR will embark on a handful of co-headlining shows with Hatebreed in September. Then in October they launch a headlining run with Whitechapel, Iron Reagan and Band of Orcs.
