Green Day scored a 2012 hit with their single 'X-Kid' and while there was a video for the track, a new offering has been provided by the band courtesy of a video contest they held with fans.

Back in June, the group launched a contest in which they asked fans to create their own videos for any of the 37 tracks on the '¡UNO!,' '¡DOS!' and '¡TRE!' albums. The submissions have been coming in and Green Day have started posting some of their favorites, including the video shown above for 'X-Kid.'

The clip, made by Jamison Donoho, follows an unseen youth as we see the world through their eyes as they attend high school, experience young love and begin adulthood by entering the military. Since the video is a fan-created promo, props must be given to Donoho who makes great use of a silhouette that closely resembles that of Billie Joe Armstrong.

Donoho's video can be seen as an upgrade from the original video, which found an old cassette spooling out as the song played as the centerpiece of the clip.

The 'X-Kid' fan-created video is actually the second offering from the challenge as Kyle Stein's animated promo for 'Nuclear Family' also got the band's stamp of approval. It can be seen here.
