Last month, MetalSucks caught up with God Forbid's guitarist Doc Coyle at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, and they asked him to explain the recent departure of his brother, Dallas, from the New Jersey metal band. Filling in for Dallas Coyle on the band's current tour with Lamb of God, Municipal Waste, Children of Bodom, and As I Lay Dying is Darkest Hour guitarist Kris Norris.

"Long story short, we got into a really ridiculous, stupid argument over something really stupid and ridiculous and he quit," Coyle explained. "It's really that simple. He did this on the day we were supposed to leave [for tour]."

Asked whether he thinks the two will be able to patch up their differences, Doc said he wasn't sure. "I don't know. I think the way in which it happened, it would be very difficult for it to go back to the way it was," he responded. "In a sense, maybe it was meant to be. I don't know. I really don't want to talk about it with any sort of definitiveness right now."

Doc said his brother's decision to bail on the band is "difficult for me," and he stopped short of saying anything mean-spirited about his sibling. "It's an upsetting situation either way you look at it," he confessed, before calling Norris "a genius guitar player." Coyle said Norris learned five God Forbid songs in two days, and a few days into the tour, "it started getting tight. Now, we're in a really nice groove."

Doc also discussed the overall reception to the band's latest album, "Earthsblood," and how the boys are holding up on the LOG tour.

Last month, Dallas Coyle broke his silence on the split, in a blog post that read, "I left God Forbid because I had personal issues to deal with and I felt I needed to move on. I'm proud of my time with the band and I'm proud of all the records we made. It was time to move on and that's it."

Maybe, one day, we'll actually get the real story behind this cantankerous situation.
