God Dethroned Prep for Fall of Spreading ‘War Propoganda’ on the Road

“We’re not working on new music,” God Dethroned guitarist Susan Gerl told Noisecreep. “We are preparing for a 10-week tour, and that started in Brazil, and then we have three week tour through South America, and then the States and Canada for three weeks, then back to Europe. We get one day of rest, then tour again.”

The visas have been secured, the suitcases packed — and the video was shot for ‘Poison Fog.’ “We have a new drummer, too,” Gerl said, proving that God Dethroned is too busy right now to write music in slapdash fashion. “When we come back in mid-November, then it might be time to think of new songs. ‘Passiondale’ has been out for half a year now, so we have time before we have to think of our new songs.”

This fall tour cycle represents the longest the band has ever embarked on. Gerl enjoys life on the road, but is a wee bit apprehensive about remaining healthy. It’s a common concern for any road warrior, since musicians often get sick the first week of a tour regardless of the season, due to exposure to germs, lack of proper nutrition and loss of sleep. “The longest, for me, was two weeks and the longest for them was six weeks,” Gerl admitted about her bandmates.

“On the last tour, I took a shower every day, so that wasn’t too bad. The thing that is bad for me is the lack of sleep and bad food. I am into health food and road food is not healthy. We had crisps and chocolate for breakfast last time, so that is what my body reacts to, where I feel horrible and that is even worse. There is always a possibility to freshen up while on tour, so that is not a problem. I do care, though. I want to be fresh and healthy like a typical female,” Gerl adds. “It holds true for men, too! In our band at, least. We want to be clean and fit. I am not too sure what is going to happen with 10 weeks, so we will see. You can’t do anything else; you have to go with the flow.” Or pack extra baby wipes.
