Goblin LorSticking with his character of Krell the goblin, the lead singer/multi-instrumentalist of the fright metal act Goblin Lor tells Noisecreep he is selfish: too selfish to tour, too selfish to do in-store appearances.

"Goblins do not do things for human desire," Krell said. "Goblins are more concerned about what they want to do. Goblins are very selfish."

In his attempt to remain selfish, Krell created his debut, 'Drink the Blood,' all on his own, with no help from outside figures, including humans. It was recorded deep within the Ocala National Forest in Florida, away from any sort of interruption.

"The album was created specifically to make goblin music that would be accessible for humans," Krell said. "I do things with my time based on my desires not humans'. The songs are from a goblin's perspective but they're sung in the human language so humans would be able to listen to it and understand where I'm coming from."

The title track of the album, which appears first on the record, is basically a summary for the whole concept of Goblin Lor, Krell explained.

"'Drink the Blood' is basically a concept about a goblin tradition," Krell said. "Blood drinking is a goblin tradition on Goblin's Night Out. Goblin's Night Out is a goblin's holiday. It's celebrating the coming of winter. Winter is a representation of death. Most plant life is destroyed by the icy temperatures as well as other miniscule living things. Drinking blood is a symbol of our superior power over other beings and creatures. Goblin's Night Out is never a specific day but it is usually held near the end of October, according to your human calendar. It was quite splendid."

'Drink the Blood' has been released on the indie label Skerren Records, a company that Krell said is made up of humans that let him do exactly what he wants.

"I don't have contracts telling me that I have to do this at this certain point in time," Krell said. "Goblins do not do things based on human time. We do things as we desire. So, say, I want to sleep for the next three years. That's not a problem. It could be another 10 years before I have the next album done because I do it within my own time."

If there's one thing he wants humans to know, it's that they should listen to his band.

"Basically, I am not human," he said. "It's something different that they can listen to. There's a zillion other metal bands out there. But they're all humans. If they want to listen to something that's from a different perspective than from a human's, then they might be intrigued to listen to what a goblin has to say."
