Gloominous Doom

While Gloominous Doom's name may sound like a cartoon you watched on Saturday mornings, nothing could be further from the truth. "We're the Gloominous Doom from the deep woods of Shredding, Pa.," Austin L. Ernst told Noisecreep. "We're not your typical metal band by far. We play what we like and have no boundaries when it comes to writing. We play a mind-melting blend of backwoods thrash/death/punk/metal with a taste of weed-infused ska and reggae." What a blend, indeed!

The band will be playing dates with Gwar, but Ernst said they are not scared to play in front of the Scumdogs of the Universe's fans, saying, "We've shared the stage with them once before and haven't died! We feel we should tour with Gwar constantly so we can scare the s--- out of their audience right alongside them!"

Recent photos of the band show them brandishing guns. "There's no bulls--- when it comes to photos of us," Ernst said. "That's our lifestyle in the deep woods of Pennsylvania: guns, booze, demolition derbies, partying and playing the styles of music we want to hear."

The video for 'Portal Potty' -- a track on their 15-song album 'Features,' which will be released May 4 -- is a great example of Gloominous Doom's attitude. "In the video we travel back in time and grab historical figures such as Marilyn Monroe and Abraham Lincoln, throw them in the portal potty and bring them to the future for the sole purpose of partying hard and to drink Pabst Blue Ribbon beer with them," Ernst said. PBR with Marilyn and Abe? We're so there.
