Operation: Mindcrime, fronted by ex-Queensryche vocalist Geoff Tate, have unveiled another song from their sophomore album Resurrection, which will be released Sept. 23. Listen to "Miles Away" above.

The song is a slow build, with more than a minute-and-a-half elapsing before Tate's distinctive vocals kick in. The mid-tempo track has plenty of atmosphere, with backing vocals adding some depth. It's fairly laid back, with more urgency towards the end.

Resurrection is the second in a trilogy of concept albums. In a recent interview, Tate talked about the genesis of the records. "I grew up in a time, the '60s and the '70s, where a concept record was more prevalent than they are today," Tate says. "I was very influenced by the progressive rock and metal bands from those times. And I have been thinking about doing a large scale piece for quite a few years and I always thought the trilogy was a good amount; three records that told a story would be kind of an interesting thing to do."

Tate continues, "I had been kind of wanting to find a subject to really write about and a few years back my wife and I took a holiday to Spain and we hiked the Camino de Santiago, which is a 500 mile trail through northern Spain. It took us about a month to hike it and while I was on the hike I wrote the story. I felt very excited about it and when I got back to Seattle I started writing music to tell the story with and was kind of just on a roll for quite a while, writing the three records."

One of the tracks on Resurrection features guest vocals from Tim “Ripper” Owens (Dio Disciples, ex-Judas Priest) and Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden). The "Trinity" tour featuring the trio was announced a couple weeks ago, and now a couple more dates have been added to the trek. Check out the complete itinerary below.
