Geoff Tate to Star in + Create Music for ‘The Burningmoore Deaths’ Horror Film

Geoff Tate is no stranger to theatrical works of music, but the rocker is set to take things a step further by making his feature film acting debut in the new horror film, The Burningmoore Deaths.

The former Queensryche and current Operation: Mindcrime singer appears in the film in the role of James Parrish, a man who allegedly killed his own wife and three children before disappearing without a trace. With time past since the horrific events, a home improvement company gets permission to film a renovation of the home for a TV pilot, unaware that Parrish has returned to take up residence in the derelict building.

The film is written and directed by Jonathan Williams and is inspired by true events surrounding a series of unsolved murders captured on security cameras during a production shoot of a TV show. In addition to acting in the film, Tate contributed music to the film to go along with the original score by Andrew Kadin and other contributions from Dawn of Solace.

“I think I’ve always done it … In our own shows and with the way I present music,” said Tate. “It all has a bit of a stage acting bend to it. So this wasn’t really a stretch for me. It was just playing to a different audience, to a camera rather than a room full of people, but it’s the same thing. You play-act and you make stuff up and you present that like you would in a stage show.”

The Burningmoore Deaths will arrive on DVD and digital formats Feb. 14 via MVD Entertainment Group. You can currently place orders for the film via the MVD Shop or Amazon. Watch a trailer for the film above.
