Does time heal all wounds? Former Queensryche vocalist Geoff Tate had a well publicized split with the band that ended up in the courts, but a few years have passed and during a recent interview, the vocalist revealed that he finally crossed paths with his onetime band on the road.

Speaking with Nevada radio station KOMP 92.3 on the 92 Minutes of Hair With Mel show (heard in the player below), Tate was asked about his onetime band. He revealed, "Two weeks ago [on June 30], I was in Barcelona, Spain and I was playing with a band called Avantasia. I did a guest appearance with them, and they were headlining the [Rock Fest Barcelona] festival. And I read on the roster list that Queensryche was opening the festival. So I went out earlier in the day and watched their set. It was the first time I'd seen the band play without me."

He continued, "I'd never heard their new singer [Todd La Torre], but I watched them play and they were great, and that singer is fantastic. He's amazing! He sounds just like me. It was eerie and weird. And then I met all the guys afterwards and shook hands with them, we hugged and said hello, and it was a really nice little reunion, you know, get-together."

Tate was asked earlier this year if he ever envisioned a reunion with his former band. Speaking with Metal Wani, he stated, “To do that would require everybody getting in the same room and actually confronting all the things that were said and all the things that happened. And that is a really big commitment, because there was some really negative stuff that went down. I don’t know if everybody has that kind of want to go through that. [Laughs] The money would be the big driving force that would get everybody together, and I don’t need the money, so I’m not really motivated to sit in a room and listen to what I’ve had to listen to with everybody. But, you know, again, never say never.”

During an interview with The Metal Voice, La Torre shared his thoughts on Tate explaining that he's never had any problem with the singer. "I've always had respect for what he did, particularly on the first six records," said La Torre. “If I was ever in a situation [with him], I have no problem, if I were to converse with him … But he doesn’t even acknowledge anything I’ve done, so I don’t know that he would be wanting to do it or care.

La Torre concluded, “If at some point in the future there was ever a circumstance where I had to talk to him, I would have no problem having a conversation. I’m just doing the best that I can in one of my all-time favorite bands. But things move on, and I’m in a good place with the guys, and there’s really no ill will in the band.”
