Flood of Red

Scottish alternative rockers Flood of Red just released their debut, 'Leaving Everything Behind,' via their own label, Dark City Records. While the band is all about a DIY approach, they did leave the production duties to a man known for helping unknown rockers break. To work with their dream producer, the guys in the band flew from their homeland to Baltimore.

"We decided that if there was anyone in the world that we could get to work with on our first ever album, it would be Brian Mcternan. Collectively we own his entire back catalog, and we all totally appreciated his talent for recording," drummer Graham Griffith gushes to Noisecreep. "Until we met him, we had no idea how amazing he actually is, and we were all blown away with how involved in the record he got and how much he inspired us."

Mcternan is known for working with independent rockers including Frodus, Converge, Cave In, Thrice, Sky Eats Airplane, Emarosa and Senses Fail, among many others.

It seems that all Flood of Red need is a little time and inspiration. So far, the band has cooked up some smart marketing schemes to get their music heard, without a ton of cash. What they do have -- and always want -- is control.

"We have full creative control [from] our merchandise and art work [to] our touring schedule. Everything we do, we are in charge, and we don't have to answer to a record label executive who may tell us how to write music or how to present ourselves or when to go on tour. Instead, we are advised by a very great team of people who are forward thinking and believe in us more than we do ourselves sometimes," Griffith continues.

'Leaving Everything Behind' is available for download or physical order via the band's official Web site.
