Flashback: 1983 News Report Confirms ‘Satan Sells’ [Watch]

“One thing is for sure: Satan sells.” These were the introductory words to a news report in 1983 following a clip of Motely Crue‘s ‘Take Me to the Top,’ which, as we know, is not about the Horned One. Surprisingly, the news report is actually pretty objective instead of condemning the music.

When claiming that Satan sells, the news report mentions that Black Sabbath and KISS aren’t losing money in the record industry depression, which, in hindsight, is akin to the alleged gas shortage in the ’70s. These news reports serve as a nice time capsule for those who were not around to experience the growth of the metal movement and for others to remember what it was like growing up in this time and listening to edgy metal and rock!
