Heavy metal fans know Richard Christy from his stunning drum work in bands like Death, Iced Earth, Control Denied and Charred Walls of the Damned, his current group. But the 37-year-old Kansas native is also familiar to a legion of Howard Stern Show fans where he's one of the legendary host's comedy writers and on-air talents.

Christy has been swamped as of late. During the past few months, Charred Walls of the Damned, which also features vocalist Tim 'Ripper' Owens (ex-Judas Priest), bassist Steve DiGiorgio (ex-Death) and producer Jason Seucof on guitars, released 'Cold Winds on Timeless Days,' their sophomore album. The band also just unleashed a video for "Zerospan," a killer track off of their latest record.

On top of that, Christy also tied the knot with Kristi, his longtime girlfriend, and he's been busy writing hilarious comedy bits with his Stern Show partner-in-crime, Sal Governale.

Besides music and comedy, Christy is an avid beer fan, with extensive knowledge on microbeers. With spring now in full swing, Noisecreep asked the drum/comedy wiz for his list of five favorite springtime beers. Check out his list, plus the "Zerospan" video below!

Five Favorite Springtime Beers by Richard Christy

"Springtime means many things to me, Cadbury Eggs, outdoor Saturday marathon brunches, Fog Day (The 21st of April when the film John Carpenter's The Fog takes place and my wife and I celebrate it, yes I'm a horror nerd), the occasional scrotal chaffe from running outdoors when it starts to get hot, my birthday on April 1 when I ritually eat a Papa John's pizza and watch John Carpenter's Halloween, and most importantly Spring Beers! Here are my 5 favorites (including Easter food pairings, although I have very odd tastes so don't blame me if the pairings don't suit your pallette)!

5. Vinyl by Magic Hat

"An easy drinking Spring Red/Amber lager that goes great with gooey partially melted yellow Peeps."

3. Fluffy White Rabbits by Pretty Things

"A beer that's pretty hard to find but well worth the search! Goes great with those big chocolate hollow Easter Bunnies that you feel bad about biting their ears off."

2. Hop Sun by Southern Tier

"This is my favorite brewery. They cannot go wrong. If their brewmaster took a piss in a bottle and sold it, I would be first in line to buy it and I guarantee it would taste delicious. Goes wonderfully with Whoppers Robin Eggs."

1. Aprihop by Dogfish Head

"I LOVE THIS BEER! A delicious blend of Apricot and hops, this is the perfect beer for spring! I'm assuming (since I haven't eaten this yet but I asked my wife for one of these cakes for my birthday because it looks like the most delicious thing ever!) that it goes wonderfully with a Junior's Red Velvet Strawberry Swirl Easter Cheesecake!"

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful springtime filled with massive amounts of Heavy Metal and glasses full of Springtime Suds!

Love,

Richard"
