ON A BOAT: Nola sludge kings Eyehategod have a few dates scheduled in the Northeast later this month. The shows feature an impressive supporting cast, including Pig Destroyer, Goatwhore, Anal Cunt, Howl, Unearthly Trance and Tombs, and one of the shows is actually on a boat. Yes, a boat! A vinyl edition of Eyehategod's 2000 LP 'Confederacy of Ruined Lives' is out Oct. 22 via I'm Better than Everyone Records.

IN THE FLESH: Doom supergroup Shrinebuilder -- Wino (Saint Vitus, the Obsessed, the Hidden Hand), Scott Kelly (Neurosis), Al Cisneros (Om, Sleep) and Dale Crover (the Melvins) -- have scheduled a handful of live appearances in mid-November, with more presumably to emerge in the coming weeks. The band has also been confirmed to appear at the 2010 Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Netherlands. Be on the lookout for their self-titled debut album, out Oct. 27 via Neurot.

THE GREAT BRINGERS OF NIGHT:
Profound Lore has signed little-known Indianapolis sludge/doom quintet Coffinworm on the strength of their self-released 'Great Bringer of Night' demo (recorded by Bob Fouts of the Gates of Slumber). It's refreshing to see that there are still some labels that believe in artist development, and in signing bands based on the quality of their work and not their MySpace friend count. Look for Coffinworm's debut full-length for Profound Lore to drop in 2010.
