There is sad news to report as Eyehategod drummer Joey LaCaze has reportedly passed away at the age of 42.

There are few details at this point, but metal blog Invisible Oranges reported the passing, stating, "We've received confirmation from a very credible source that he has in fact passed. The band recently completed a tour of Europe and was gearing up for a string of dates in celebration of their 25th anniversary."

The group has yet to publicly comment on LaCaze's passing, though the band's Facebook page has numerous fan messages expressing their condolences about LaCaze's death.

Lamb of God's Randy Blythe also commented on LaCaze's passing in an Instagram posting, stating, "They were amazing to watch, & will always be one of my favorite bands of all time -- we became friends & I would always throw it down for them when they came to stay ... He was a funny, funny, man & I'm so sorry he's gone. I hope you are at peace, bro."

LaCaze has been with Eyehategod since their formation in 1988 and has recorded on all four of their studio albums. He is survived by a wife and a daughter.
