Emmure’s Frankie Palmeri Takes Over Church Sermon in ‘Flag of the Beast’ Music Video

Emmure regrouped with a brand new lineup to back frontman Frankie Palmeri and will be releasing their seventh full length, Look at Yourself, on March 3. Despite the lineup change, fans have nothing to worry about as the band’s sound has remained in tact, just watch the music video for “Flag of the Beast” if you need convincing.

Walking into a church, dressed head to toe in black including a baseball cap, Palmeri has a book, presumably a Bible, tucked close to his chest as an eerie, twitching lead plays out. Emmure’s staple of beatdown riffing and accented dissonance come into play as the frontman takes the podium, preaching about being villainized with a rap-rock flair, alternating spoken / shouting vocal parts with low gutturals and wailing shrieks.

“I was very happy with the video we did with Aaron Marsh,” began Palmeri. “He came to me with a vision based off his interpretation of the song, and he brought it completely to life. He wanted to give me an audience that becomes ultra violent or possessed by the lyrics of the song.”

Speaking about the song’s lyrical content, the ever-demonized Palmeri said, “‘Flag of the Beast’ represents the idea that I am in fact some sort of evil deity in some peoples eyes, but on the same coin I am sort of an anti-hero. It is about myself and how I view people that have exited my life or have looked at me like I’m not on the right path. It is about being the epitome of all things that are against the grain. You can hate me if it makes you feel better, but I am not going anywhere.”

Emmure will be on tour with After the Burial, Fit For a King, Fit For an Autopsy and Invent.Animate. For a list of stops, check our 2017 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
