"I think we may be looking at somebody in December, which is fun to think about (and) I believe in my heart of hearts it'll happen," bassist Duff McKagan said recently when asked about the vacant front man position in Velvet Revolver.

McKagan believes Velvet Revolver will have a new singer by the end of the year. Jimmy Gnecco of Ours was rumored to have the gig, but now that isn't so clear.

Velvet Revolver has been on hiatus since firing original frontman Scott Weiland over three years ago. McKagan has been working with fellow Velvet Revolver band mates Slash and Matt Sorum to fill the void behind the mic. "I think once that whole thing went down with Scott, we thought we'd find a guy right away. Once a few months went by, it was like, 'Oh f---,'" said McKagan in an interview with OC Weekly last month.

The guys in Velvet Revolver will audition singers next month. This after rumored auditions from Royston Langdon (Spacehog), Donovan Leitch (Camp Freddy), Corey Taylor (Slipknot) and Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge).
