Tragedy struck soon after Hungarian metal/punk band Drunken Bastards recorded their second album, 'Horns of the Wasted.' Founding guitarist Pete Fire was diagnosed with cancer.

Fire has already begun chemotherapy treatments and doctors are confident that the guitarist has a good chance of a complete recovery, said the band in a press statement. "So far, he has been taking it good, but the whole treatment could take up to six months."

In light of the news, Drunken Bastards canceled their fall tour but will continue to write their third album and plan to make up the canceled shows in the spring after Fire recovers. The guitarist's other band, Bridge to Solace, have also canceled their fall shows.

"The next spring won't go easy on nuclear hardcore and metal/punk attacks," said the band. "Hope for him to get better."

'Horns of the Wasted' comes out Aug. 31 on Hells Headbangers.
