Gene Hoglan has drummed for more metal bands than would be prudent to list here, but his credits include legendary acts such as TestamentFear Factory, Death and Dark Angel. Earlier this month, he announced that he’s hitting the road with The Gene Hoglan Experience. Starting this fall, Hoglan will be going out to select locations for an intimate meet-and-greet with metal fans.

The Gene Hoglan Experience will feature the rock god telling stories about his thirty-plus years of experience in playing with some of the world’s heaviest and most successful metal bands and performing some of his favorite songs. Hoglan will also be sharing some tips and techniques with other drummers. Fans in attendance will get a chance to meet and ask him questions, as well as check out his exclusive merchandise.

There are three confirmed dates so far: September 20 in Calgary, Alberta; October 17 in Coralville, Iowa; and October 19 in New Berlin, Wis. The Gene Hoglan Experience tour is happening in anticipation of the release of a new Hoglan documentary DVD. The video, which is Hoglan’s second to date, will focus on personal details of his life and technical details of his drumming.

Most recently, Hoglan got back together with the band Viking to record their first album in 20 years, titled ‘No Child Left Behind.’ He also recorded the albums ‘The Dark Roots of Earth’ with Testament and ‘Dethklok III’ with Dethklok, and he’s currently touring with Testament.
