Drive A Are Not a Political Band — Exclusive Interview

Western Publicity

“We just toured so much the past two years… For a while, the only promotion was touring so it was cool to grab fans organically,” Drive A singer Bruno Mascolo recently told Noisecreep.

The band is currently on the road with Hollywood Undead, touring behind their new album ‘The World In Shambles.’ While the title might sound fatalistic, it isn’t all so negative — or political.

“[The album is] not really political, I would say it’s more personal,” explains Mascolo. “There’s a song on the record called ‘The World In Shambles,’ and despite the name, it comes out as a positive thing, like ‘The world is in shambles but I resist to let it take away my bliss.’ The album is like your world that you live in… You might think it is falling down or completely destroyed, but the album is all about trying to convince people that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Mascolo says the mission statement of the band is to “pursue your dream.” While that might sound strange coming from a band that uses anarchy symbols, it isn’t all that complicated. Really, Mascolo says, the anarchy symbols are no more than a cool logo — and the band is definitely not anti-government.

Continues Mascolo, “The anarchy flag to us is an emotional thing. It’s like oppression — not f–k the government. Oppression from everything.”
