Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess recently shared a live improvisational performance on Facebook that lasted over half an hour. The live stream came on Saturday, Nov 14., one day after the terrorist attacks in Paris, with the goal being that the special performance would provide a hope for peace.

Rudess himself stated, "Piano for Peace. Sending out a live musical message to all my friends around the world in hopes for peace" in the description of the video on his page. The piano piece is beautiful with the only section to not be improvised coming from the song "State of Grace" off Liquid Tension Experiment's debut album.

The famed keyboardist just released his new solo album, The Unforgotten Path, which consists of a variety of covers along with some original pieces. The covers include "Your Song" by Elton John, "Karma Police" by Radiohead, "Sound of Silence" and "Scarborough Fair" by Simon and Garfunkel, "As Tears Go By" by the Rolling Stones, "Imagine" by John Lennon, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack, "Send in the Clowns" by Judy Collins and more. The 17-track album is available through iTunes.

Dream Theater have been a bit cryptic about their new album The Astonishing, choosing to launch a website dedicated to details about the album. The site displays several shadowy silhouettes with one of the concept album's characters revealed as Emperor Nafaryus. The band also announced they will be playing the entire album on their upcoming 2016 European tour.
