No good deed goes unpunished. An internal investigation has been launched after Guns N' Roses guitarist DJ Ashba and his girlfriend were given a private tour in a Las Vegas police helicopter so that the rocker could pop the question.

Social media appears to be the culprit, so to speak, as Ashba posted a photo of the event on his Instagram page, outing the Las Vegas PD for their efforts.

Ashba, who also plays guitar for Sixx: A.M., obviously couldn't contain his joy and namechecked Captain David O'Leary, who overseas the department's Financial Crimes Bureau, for his efforts in setting up the tour.

That was the most incredible day of our life!! Special thx to the Las Vegas Police Dept. for the most amazing helicopter private tour over Vegas! We landed in a field at Police headquarters were I had a table set up covered in roses n a bottle of the bubble stuff for @naty_yummi8 as we walked up to the table @karikaisner slipped me the ring, and thats when I proposed! it was beautiful she didn't expect a thing, it was magical. And thanks to our good friends for helping making it all happen!! Now, an investigation has been opened, with further details unavailable at press time, according to Las Vegas Review Journal.

Officials were apparently infuriated over the use of aircraft for something like a proposal. It's a bigger deal than appearing to be a waste of taxpayer funds, since an officer died in a helicopter-related incident last month. Officer David VanBuskirk was a search-and-rescue officer who died after falling during a late-night attempt to save a stranded hiker. That investigation remains open, as well.

How O'Leary managed to make such arrangements for Ashba is not clear. They are believed to be friends, since Ashba used that term on Instagram. O'Leary and the pilot are the subject of the probe and what discipline will be brought on them is also unclear.

Ashba's girlfriend accepted the proposal, by the way.The guitarist is probably sticking his foot in his mouth, though, for getting his pals into administrative hot water.
